Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is an important causative pathogen of porcine circovirus-associated disease (PCVAD), causing systemic wasting, dermatitis and enteritis in pigs. Vaccination is an effective way to decrease the economic losses caused by the disease. Our previous studies confirmed the safety and the efficacy of a PCV2 subunit vaccine. The objectives of this study is to understand the serological and viremia patterns before and after vaccination of the PCV2 vaccine in a commercial pig farm in Taiwan. The results indicated the pattern of PCV2 antibody and viremia were altered. And there was a significant higher survival rate and average daily weight gain after vaccination of the vaccine. Moreover, use the PCV2 subunit vaccine routinely in the field is critical for controlling the disease.
