Overview

ATRI is a research foundation, which is supported by the Council of Agriculture (COA), that has a large bank of pig, fish, crustacea and poultry pathogens and is the coordinator of veterinary research across all universities and COA establishments in the country. It has sophisticated facilities including a GLP laboratory and scale-up Sartorius fermentation facilities (up to 50L).

ATRI's GLP compliant animal facilities include their specific pathogen-free (SPF) pig herd – one of only two SPF units in Asia and the only PCV-free SPF pigs in Asia.

The roles of ATRI in Taiwan:

  • To bridge research into product
  • To provide SPF animals for authority batch release
  • To interface with government to set up standards according to industrial need
  • To take the initiative in international standards
