Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae are both important infectious pathogens of pig production worldwide. It has shown that vaccination can effective control these diseases. In the present study, a novel bivalent subunit vaccine of M. hyopneumoniae and PCV2 was developed and manufactured by prokaryotic expression system. Vaccine effectiveness was evaluated in processing SPF pigs and challenged with PCV2 and M. hyopneumoniae respectively. Blood samples were collected and anti-M. hyopneumoniae and anti-PCV2 IgG titers were determined by commercial ELISA kits. Level of PCV2 viremia was analyzed by real-time PCR, M. hyopneumoniae lung lesions was analyzed according to Goodwin method. The results showed that pigs immunized with this bivalent vaccine can elicit good immune response and provide great protection against to M. hyopneumoniae and PCV2 infection.
